Connect via normal link or menu item

Is it possible to open the FB-Connect dialog by cklicking a normal link or menu item?
Also it would be nice if I could create a php function wich calls this dialog.
Please help.

there's probably on onclick attribute you could use but I'm not sure exactly what it would be. In other words, use javascript.
